As the demolition of Terminal A nears completion, Clark | Weitz | Clarkson (CWC) and Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate are pleased to add two local firms to the KCI New Terminal Project team. Kissick Construction Company and Axiom Construction Group have been selected to establish the new permanent traffic flow pattern and roundabouts around International Circle.
Kissick Construction is a heavy civil contractor, specializing in critical construction environments. The firm self-performs civil and site development projects, underground utility work, engineered shoring, structural concrete contracts, and facility maintenance. Since its founding in Kansas City in 1994, Kissick has established annual revenues in excess of $100 million and a workforce of more than 350 employees.
The addition of Axiom Construction Group, a certified Kansas City-based, minority-owned business, to the KCI New Terminal Project furthers the Edgemoor Team’s commitment to maximizing opportunities for small, local firms.
“We have enjoyed working with Axiom Construction Group as they continue to grow their business,” said Kissick President Pete Browne. “Our firm’s mentor-protege relationship with Axiom’s principals Daniel Felder and Vince Stephens has provided a solid framework for Kissick’s leadership team to share best practices in construction operations and overall business management.”
Axiom’s CEO, Daniel Felder, is a recent graduate of the Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program (KC SPP), an intensive, six-month professional development course that Edgemoor offers to small business owners as a part of its Terminal Workforce Enhancement Program. The program is offered at no cost to participants and provides students with project management and business fundamentals to help position them for greater success on future pursuits. Felder is the fifth graduate of the program to successfully compete for a contract on the New Terminal Project.
"We are excited, along with our partners at Kissick Construction, to join with Edgemoor and CWC on the Project,” Felder said. “Not only will this opportunity help Axiom Construction Group grow our capacity and expand our abilities, it will ultimately help redefine how our community comes together – no matter your background – for the greater good of our city.”
The demolition of Terminal A is ongoing and expected to be complete by the end of summer. The New Terminal is scheduled to open in spring 2023. Follow the progress of the New Terminal project at BuildKCI.com.
